30” X 23” ACRYLIC ON 300lb ARCHES PAPER
The Finger Paintings were inspired by a photo I came across 10 years ago. The photographer is unknown and the date is unknown but what I do know is that the photo was taken at a political rally. It was taken before people of color or women were allowed to vote. The reason I was so interested in the photo was because the photographer was smart enough to turn around and capture an image of the crowd instead of just focusing on the speaker. This reminded me of an amazing quote by Malcolm Forbes: “People who matter are most aware that everyone else does too” Everyone matters! We are because we belong. That is what this series of paintings is about. Like all of my paintings, each fingerprint (circle) in the paintings represents one unique soul.
